I was enjoying painting the Desert Rats from Perry so much that it took me a while to get round to starting on any Afrika Korps. They turned out to be an absolute joy to paint, and went together every bit as well as well as the British had.
A small command unit, comprising officer, 2 NCOs, and a radio operator. As with all the DAK I paint (in whatever scale), a mixture of field grey and dark yellow gives the uniform a slightly less uniform appearance.
The officer's machine pistol looks a bit overscale, but if you compare it to a Tamiya 1/48 kit MP38 / MP40 you can see why. A scale item would be just too thin and fragile for wargaming purposes.
The kit contains loads of alternative headgear, including field caps, steel helmets, and tropical cork helmets. The weapon choice is pretty good too, so I took advantage and equipped the entire command group with MPs.
